Men Should Freeze Their Sperm at Age 18

Men Should Freeze Their Sperm at Age 18

With age, sperm increases risk of schizophrenia, autism and other disorders. Dr Kevin Smith, from the Abertay University in Dundee said that men should save their sperm in sperm banks. According to the British Fertility Society, this approach should be very useful. Also, young couples should have children. The average age, when men in England and Wales, become fathers was 31 in the 90s. Now, it is increased to 33 years.

It is possible to have a child in old age, but there are certain consequences. This risk is slightly increased, but it has a big effect on the whole population. According to Dr Smith, this is reason for concern. People should pay attention on the next generation of children. The solution is sperm banking. This should be used for everyone on the NHS. So, when men get older, they can use their sperm from younger age. There is no fixed age, when a man can become an ‘’old gather’’, but men in their 40s, should use their frozen sperm. The ideal time to freeze your sperm is age 18. It will cost you £150-200, per year to keep your sperm frozen.

According to Allan Pacey, from the University of Sheffield, this is a ridiculous idea. He also said that this risk, of having a child later in life, is very low. Sperm from many men won’t freeze well, so it cannot be used. Because of this, there are no enough sperm donors. So, men who freeze their sperm, will ask from their wives to undergo one or several IVF procedures, when they want to start a family.
